UMACRAO began in 1932, then known as the Minnesota Association of
Collegiate Registrars, when registrars saw the need to exchange ideas with
other schools. In 1937, the organization expanded to include institutions from
North and South Dakota and changed its name to the Minnesota-Dakota Association
of College Registrars (MDACR). The year 1940 brought another name change as
MDACR included Iowa institutions and took the name North Central Association of
College Registrars. Finally in 1951, the association took the moniker, Upper
Midwest Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.
Today,
UMACRAO hosts over 100 colleges and universities. Though there have seen many
changes over the last 70 years, one thing remains the same; it's dedication to
providing professional growth opportunities to its members. 1932-1942
